TEGAM Model R1L-E2A Ground Bond Meter & Milli-Ohmmeter Is Intrinsically Safe

TEGAM Model R1L-E2A Ground Bond Meter & Milli-Ohmmeter Is Intrinsically Safe

GENEVA, OH, December 6, 2012

Intrinsically safe testers can be used in potentially explosive work areas and will not ignite hazardous materials such as aviation fuel and natural gas. The TEGAM Model R1L-E2A Ground Bond Meter & Milli-Ohmmeter is unique in that it not only provides accurate low-resistance measurements, but is also intrinsically safe. This makes the TEGAM Model R1L-E2A milli-ohmmeter & bond meter useful in applications not possible with other ground bond meters.

Intrinsic safety means the instrument is designed and tested to prevent the release of energy that could ignite flammable liquids or gases in the work area. It meets the latest and most comprehensive international standards, including ATEX Ex ia IIA T4 Ga and C-UL-US Listed Class I, Div. 1, Group D in compliance with ANSI/UL 913-1988, Fifth Edition, 21 February, 1997. TEGAM’s Model R1L-E2A can be used in a wide variety of applications outside the capabilities of other bond meters, including:

  • Aircraft bond measurements in manufacturing and flight line maintenance operations where JP4 and aviation gasoline might be present.
  • Verifying natural gas pipe grounds and bonds.
  • Checking pharmaceutical equipment grounds and storage facilities in the presence of alcohol.
  • Inspecting lighting arrestors in petrochemical production and distribution facilities.

TEGAM’s Model R1L-E2A bond meter & milli-ohmmeter has five ranges with full-scale values ranging from 2 milliohms to 20 ohms. Resolution on the lowest range is 1 micro-ohm. Accuracy is 0.1% of reading ± 2 counts. The instrument is packaged in a rugged and waterproof case that protects it when being transported to and from the work site. The operating temperature range is -20° C to 50° C. The standard pistol grip probes make four-wire Kelvin measurements. The plastic housings are made with a conductive additive to prevent the buildup of dangerous static electricity.
